Why go
Twelve certified galleries across four streets, closed to traffic for one evening a week — the Art Walk is the closest thing Los Cabos has to a standing weekly event worth building a Thursday night around.
Why San José's Art Walk is worth building a Thursday around
Most of what fills a Los Cabos itinerary runs on its own schedule regardless of what day you show up — a beach club, a boat charter, a restaurant. The Art Walk is different. It is a genuinely weekly event: the Gallery District Association closes Calle Obregón to car traffic every Thursday evening in season, and the twelve member galleries along Obregón, Morelos, Guerrero and Comonfort open their doors together, often with an artist in attendance or a new show opening.
That single fact — that it only happens one night a week, one season a year — is what makes it worth planning around rather than stumbling into.
How to spend the evening
Arrive before sunset to see the Misión San José del Cabo and its plaza with some daylight left, then work the closed-off streets at whatever pace feels right. The galleries range from fine-art painting to folk-art ceramics to hand-decorated skull sculpture, so there is real variety even across a two-block stretch. Dinner at one of the district's restaurants is a natural way to break up the walk rather than trying to see all twelve galleries in one pass.
Ivan Guaderrama Art Gallery — The Walk's Best-Reviewed Gallery
Place
Ivan Guaderrama Art Gallery
A gallery on Álvaro Obregón in San José del Cabo's Art District showing modern art with religious and figurative themes by Ivan Guaderrama.
The highest-rated gallery on the walk, anchoring the Álvaro Obregón corridor at the heart of the district. Guaderrama's modern work leans into religious and figurative themes — a strong bookend for either the start or the end of an evening on this street.
La Sacristia Art & History — Folk Art Inside a Restored Chapel
Place
La Sacristia Art & History
A folk-art and ceramics gallery in San José del Cabo's Art District carrying Mata Ortiz pottery, Huichol beadwork and yarn paintings, and Mexican oil/acrylic paintings; it is one of the founding member galleries of the weekly Art Walk.
A member gallery of the weekly Art Walk, set inside a restored 19th-century chapel just off the plaza and church. La Sacristia deals in folk art and ceramics — Mata Ortiz pottery, Huichol beadwork and yarn paintings, and Mexican oil and acrylic paintings — a different register than the fine-art canvases on the next block.

Art Walk Questions
What day is the San José del Cabo Art Walk?
Thursday evenings, 5 to 9pm, from November through June. Galleries keep their own hours the rest of the week and the rest of the year.
Is the Art Walk free?
Yes — walking the closed-off streets and browsing galleries costs nothing. Buying art, or dinner at one of the district restaurants, is separate.
Is the Art Walk good for a family evening?
Yes — the street closure and slower pace make it an easy, walkable evening, though it's built around browsing galleries rather than kid-specific activities.
